all sorts of firsts
Just the other day you and I sat down to color, I realized that we didn’t have anymore of the Dora coloring pages that you like so I suggested that we draw our own pictures. You asked me what we should draw and since you had just seen Clifford the Big Red Dog at the Children’s Museum I suggested that we draw Clifford. You told me that you didn’t know how and so I said, ‘well then let me show you’. Usually you like to play it cool when I try and show you anything, sort of like, ‘thanks mom I already knew that’ or ‘don’t show me mom, I can figure it out on my own’. But this time you were interested in what I was going to show you, you really listened and tried everything out for yourself. I said, ‘First we make a big circle’, and you did, and we went on like this until you and I had both made little Clifford’s that look like this…..
And you were so proud of what you had made…..really you totally lit up, like you could see that you had drawn something that looked like a person or dog or anything with eyes a nose and smile…..you suddenly couldn’t make enough of these drawings and know they are completely covering our fridge, we had so many that we even brought some to Nana’s to hang on her fridge, and then you had to show Nana how you draw these little people and so I got one to take to my office after I kissed you goodbye this morning! And so I want to say ‘Thank you Ella”! I love my picture and it is just one more thing to make me smile as I sit here at my office thinking about you!
