rainy days are here...again and again and...

While my house may have seemed a bit scary the other day – it is or it was getting better!! My uncle and cousin work as builders and are the ones who are doing all the work on the house. They were able to get everything all re-framed (those 2 windows had a lot of wood rot from water damage all around them) and they also put in all new insulation (turns out we had none – that explains the huge heating bills this winter) and put in the 2 new windows…but before they could start the shingling on that side of the house, the day was over and the rain was getting closer. It started to rain that night and hasn’t stopped since. In fact it isn’t supposed to stop for another 5 to 7 days!!!!! So the project is on hold until the sun can come out again! But I have new windows!! Hooray!

Dennis is on vacation in 2 more weeks so maybe he’ll be home to help with a lot of the demolition and stuff, that would help to save some money in the end. He is the one who stripped that wall of all the shingles, it was a fun project, I think, well at first…I did all the clean up which wasn’t too bad. We should be having a dumpster come within the next few days or maybe weeks, that should make the clean up easier. We’ll also probably start tearing out the rest of the carpet in the house once the dumpster gets here. So much to do!

Here is a question….How come on the sunny days everyone seems to find something to do. But…on the rainy ones…suddenly everyone needs you and is bored and this and that. What happened to just resting, watching some movies, hanging out and enjoying the peace that a rainy day can bring. Is this one of those things that you only begin to enjoy with age?????

better than disney

So for Ella’s birthday we get her a little cd player and some cd’s. But….for just being her cute little self on any other day she gets…a swingset! Funny how that worked out! Dennis had decided it was finally time to break into the vacation fund (jar of change) that he had been saving up and found that he had just enough for a swingset for Ella, which he has been hoping to get for her since we moved to this house! I think he is reliving some part of his childhood here. Although I can remember having a swing set too as a kid and loving it!! So we spent the better part of Sunday putting it together, about 8 hours and help from my Stepfather! It was a fun project though, Ella even got in on building the swingset! There are some pictures in an album on the side over there.

Building

We did get to play outside on Monday and Ella loved having her own ‘playground’ (as she called it) to play on! Monday night it started to rain though and it has been raining ever since! Not a bad thing though – we did need the rain. Our lawn is finally starting to look a bit more green than brown! I think the landscaping is going to be taking a backseat to a lot of projects this summer!

Things are starting to feel better over here. The new job is getting a bit easier, a bit more comfortable. I am starting to get used to the hours and and cutting myself some slack if I am tired during the day. This house is feeling more like a home everyday and at some moments I take a deep breath in and I begin to feel whole! Some much is changing and is going to keep changing at this point. Ella will be starting preschool soon, and for her I am excited! I can see she is ready, more and more everyday. I think it will be wonderful for her to have so much more interaction with kids her own age and at her own level, especially without me there to fall back on!
